Until 2008, Boss Media was oftentimes referred to simply as "that Swedish software company". While it's true that Boss Media was founded and based out of Sweden, the pioneering software developer is now in the hands of one of the world's largest commercial lottery operators - Lottomatica. This Italy-based gaming operator is the parent company for GTECH, a gaming technology and services company originally founded in 1981. GTECH 2 or simply, G2, is the interactive division for GTECH and the Lottomatica Group, and was launched in 2009, shortly after GTECH's acquisition of several top-tier gaming services companies, including the likes of Finsoft, Dynamite Idea, and most recently, Boss Media.
Boss Media was initially founded by Joel Wikell in Vaxjo Sweden in 1996 - the dawning of the online gambling industry. One year later, their first online casino, Gold Casino, was launched in the jurisdiction of Antigua & Barbuda - helping the regulatory authority in Antigua gain cred while bringing Boss Media major success. In 2002, Boss Media launched a poker software product, and one year later, partnered with the renowned St. Minver to launch the International Poker Network. In 2004, Gold Casino was sold off, and Boss Media solely focused on further developing it's software. In 2008, Boss Media launched a bingo software platform, which combined with their online casino games and poker software, now make up the bulk of interactive gaming assets under the G2 platform.
Since Boss Media is now integrated with a collective gaming package, players are more likely to experience their online casino games at large all-in-one betting sites offering everything from sports betting to scratch-off tickets. Some of GTECH's clients using the G2 platform include the Belgian National Lottery and the well known Bwin. A good example of a dedicated online casino powered by Boss Media's casino software platform is the popular, Malta regulated Euro site, Casino Club.
Gaming sites using Boss Media software have NOT been known to do business in the US market, and so long as laws remain the way they are, Boss Media games will likely not be available to USA bettors any time soon. However, players in Europe can expect to see more of Boss Media's characteristic games as the GTECH G2 platform gains momentum in the European iGaming industry. What is it then that makes Boss Media's casino games stand out? Graphics, for one. Colorfully vivid, the Boss Media platform is as sharp looking as casino software gets. It's reliable and fast too. Available in both no-download Flash and direct download, the platform is apparently being developed into a mobile compatible version as well.
Boss Media's regulatory accreditations include a core RNG certification by both Price Waterhouse Coopers and Technical Systems Testing and memberships with the World Lottery Association and Interactive Gaming Council. Boss Media was listed on the OMX Nordic Stock Exchange in 1999, but was later delisted after being acquired by GTECH.
